| ~ Ralph McCoy ~ |
| Ralph came from a very musical family. His father at one time was offered to sing with the Son's of the Pioneers, never realizing how big they would become. (an absolute singing sensation in their time) As he grew up, his dad would have many, many jam sessions where musicians from all over the city would come to their house and play for hours. Later, as a young man, he was in many bands and played all over OKC on the weekends. Realizing this lifestyle wasn't healthy for a young family, Ralph put down his bass guitar and raised a family. Ralph became a Christian and stared using his talents for the Lord. He ahs shared his music from Canada to Bogota, columbia. He plays the bass regularly at Edmond Road Baptist Church, wher ehe and his wife, Mildred attend church. His talent was passed on for two generations. Both of his children share the same love of music. Laura Tatum, also a CMSA member has a wonderful voice, and sings country, gospel, and bluegrass music. Also, Ralph's son Richard loved music. Sadly, Richard passed away in an accident in 2003. Ralph's grandson, and Laura's son Paul Green is also musically inclined. He is in a band called "True Evidence" that plays gospel music. This band is an award winning group of several fine young Christians sharing their talent in a wonderful way! Now that his family is raised, and he is retired from the working world, Ralph decided to get back to his old love of music. He still works part-time for the Salvation Army as a bus driver. But when he's not busy with that or helping Mildred around the house, you'll find Ralph out there entertaining somewhere! He goes to senior citizen activity centers, old folks homes, churches, fairs and benefits. He loves it!! Ralph and Mildred both play an important role in our organization. Ralph is the chairman of the "Bob Wood Memorial", and Mildred is our treasurer. They both love the CMSA and enjoy the friendships they have made in the last few years. Ralph is an award winning singer. He placed in the top rankings last year in the CMSA, and nicely represented Oklahoma in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee this last March, winning 3rd place in Bluegrass. This year, he teamed up with Sherry Miller for a traditional country duet. We'll find out if the duet will represent Oklahoma in Tennessee just a little later this month at our award show. If you'd like to hear a wonderful deep voice singing some great country songs, come out to a show real soon! Keep an eye out for Ralph McCoy's name on the show schedule and be sure to attend! |
