~~ Charles Jones ~~
This Month's spotlight is on Heartland Opry Country and Gospel Entertainer, Charles Jones.  Charles has been singing Gospel Music since he was  a toddler.  He has lived a life of music and the gospel world is blessed because of it.  His whole family loved music.  Charles recalls that the family would gather around the table after dinner to sing.

Charles was born at home in Weleetka, Oklahoma, and grew up in a large family of twelve children.  Being a railroad man, His dad moved the family all across Oklahoma.  Charles graduated High School in Wyandotte, OK.  Charles was pretty explicit about his schooling, "I took three subjects... Alcohol, Pool Hall, and Study Hall.  I staggered through Alcohol,  Rolled through Pool Hall and laid out in Study Hall."  You wouldn't know it to look at him.

He entered military life in 1955 with the US Air Force.  He was stationed at Altus, OK Air Force Base.  After the Air Force, he worked as an electrician.

Charles has been married three times.  The first marraige ended after just 4 years in divorce.  His second marraige lasted 32 years, and ended due to cancer taking Rita's life.  Charles re-met his 3rd wife, Sue at church in 1987.  They had been neighbors during Charles first marraige, some 32 years earlier.  Sue and Charles were married for 18 years until she also passed away to what he suspects was cancer.

Charles and Sue both loved to sing, and they found CMSA around 1997.  Charles has competed locally and in Tennessee and received many awards over the years.  Not just as a solo act, either.  He and Sue competed as a duo.  They were also in a quartet called "The God Squad" with two other members, Kirk Heldreth and his former wife, Shonda(who also has passed away).

Charles is a regular at our "Gospel Praise" nights, so check our show schedule for a great gospel show, and plan on seeing him on stage real soon!
