| ~~ Larry Perkey ~~ |
| Larry Perkey is what you'd expect from a cowboy, picture perfect pulling up in his dually pickup. In a tasseled suede jacket, a cowboy hat, cowboy boots, and guitar in hand, he's just what you'd expect. As he emerges from his pickup, you realize he's a family man, too. His grandson is attached to the pantleg. You'll quickly realize his other values as he starts his singing, commonly gospel, but also bluegrass styles. Larry was born in Elk City, Oklahoma. He spent his early school years in Oklahoma City and in Moore, but the family would move to Dibble, Oklahoma in 1971. He graduated from Dibble High School in 1973. After graduation, Larry tried his hand at bull riding. During 1974, he met and married his wife, Pearline. Next month they will celebrate their 34th anniversary. Larry picked up playing the guitar in 1985. Learning on his own and playing along with the church pianist, he's really honed his skills. During Larry's time in the Country Music Singers Association, he has competed in the last three years of competition. He has placed as a solo act, and in a duet with his daughter, Charity, in local, state, and national levels. Be sure to watch the "show schedule" page and look for Larry Perkey in the line up. He's frequently on the shows, and is a real pleasure to watch! |
