~ Cynthia Heldreth ~
Cynthia is a woman of few words... But, she loves to write!  So the Entertainer of the Month page is a great way for her to share with you who she REALLY is, a few fun facts, and tell you what singing REALLY means to her.

The first song she can remember learning all the words to was "Jose' Quervo" by Shelly West.  She was around 3 years old, and the words meant nothing to her, but she loved the beat.  Currently, she sings country, gospel, pop, rock, and whatever else appeals toher.

Cynthia started taking choir in elementary school, and took it every year from 7th grade until she was a senior in High School.  Her first television appearance was on the Butch and Ben McCain show at the age of 15, when she took Show Choir in the Little Axe school district.

She per her love of music to the side when she became a mother at the age of 19, but picked it back up after being asked several times to host a Karaoke Night in several local bars.  It was in those small bars that a CMSA member told her about the organization known as the Country Music Singers Association.  Finally, in 2008, on a whim after a gig in a small church in Harrah, she showed up at a Saturday Inght show in a pair of blue jeans and tennis shoes to audition.

Since then, she has stopped hosting shows in teh bar scene, and her vocal appearances have included gigs at the State Fair of Oklahoma, The State Fair Motor Speedway, the Lawton Motor Speedway, the Mid-eastern Country Music Connection, Music by Michelle, at Crossroads Mall, the Access 34 Gospel Music Show, a political campaign party in Sapulpa, and alongside her husband, Kirk, just to mention a few.

Prior to joining the CMSA, Cynthis also provided DJ, Emcee, and Karaoke host services at weddings, business banquets, nursing homes, children's homes, and benefits.  Although she has very little time for them now due to her busy family, work and school schedule, the beneits have been some of her most memorable times with music.

Medals and Awards?  YES, YES, YES !!!  She has a few from her school days, and a few from CMSA competitions.  But in reality, she doesn't pour her heart out in a song to get a prize.  She sings to touch people.  "If you can touch one person because of the way you sang 'their' song, then you have really accomplished something" she says.

Cynthia is the mother of two wonderful kids who are her heart and soul.  They are Cheyanne and Zachary.

What may have appeared to be an unlikely couple, Cynthia met up with Kirk Heldreth (an Elvis tribute artist and member of CMSA).  Kirk says "It was Love at first sight".  But Cynthia says "she wasn't looking... and finally she heard a voice in her heart telling her that if she kept telling him 'no', that eventually he was going to listen and she was going to regret it".   Since she told him 'yes', she has not regretted a single day!  And her kids love Kirk, too.

On Competition:  "First place is nice, but since joining the CMSA, my opinion on competition has changed.  I don't want to sing to be better than another performer.  To me, participating in competitions isn't about beating someone out.  It is about getting feedback from the judges so you can see how you are perceived by others, and then improve.  if I never win another first place medal, I hope that I can walk away on competitoin day having touched somebody in the audience... or more importantly, one of my fellow entertainers.  To me, that is winning".
