| ~ Laney Wagoner ~ |
| Laney has been singing for as long as she remembers. In fact, she remembers being an annoying kid who constantly sang, but never realized she was singing until her parents told her to be quiet! In the sixth grade, Laney started taking lessons with a voice coach. Since then, she's een in school talent shows and other cabarets. "All of this has been a whirlwind" says Laney. "It has always been my dream to become the next big sensation in music, but isn't that everyone's dream? The funny part about my singing background is I always told everybody I would not sing country! And look at me now?! i think at that early age, country just seemed so "country" and not for me. My opinion has completely changed." Her opinion started changing when she auditioned to compete in the Rising Star Competition at the Oklahoma Opry. Passing the audition and qualifying to compete was a major step. Although she did not place in the competition, her thirst for more opportunities was satisfied by the Newby family. It just so happened that Cameron Newby was the emcee for the competition and to top it off, Laney's partents were sitting behind the Newby family. The Newby's are known to never miss a chance to tell about the Heartland Opry and the CMSA. Laney has been a member of the CMSA for less than a year at this point, but has been on several shows and is now able to sing about 40 different country songs! She even qualified for competition and is going to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee this year to represent our state! And she's very happy to have found a way to grow in her performing art. Laney is also a high achiever in other areas of life. She is a dedicated student. This is shown by her involvement with the National Honor Society, the Business Professionals of America, as a teen secretary for her church diocese of nine states. She attends leadership onferences in Pennsylvania and California. Each month she assists in Cotillion classes, which are to educate young ones in the manner of etiquette and ballroom dancing. "It is so much fun! It is the 5th and 8th grades that I assist with, but I personnally take the high school classes" She says. She did not mention a boyfriend, but with her appearance and personallity, that will be the least of her worries! She is very excited to be going to Pigeon Forge to compete. and the CMSA is very proud to have this young lady as a member and a regular feature on the Heartland Opry shows!!! |
