| ~ Anita Walker ~ |
| If you happen to see a three wheeled motorcycle with a Harley Davidson front end with angel wings coming up the sides and angels painted on the fenders with a happy lady revving the Volkswagen engine, then you may be looking at Anita Walker and her "Angel". Just to make sure, check to see if the cycle has a rood, a high windshield, and neon lights both under and in the cycle. There are times when you may even see a dog riding next ot the driver. If all the criteria match, you most likely are seeing our artist of the month, Anita Walker, in her "Angel". If you see Anita and Angel, make sure and give'm a high five! Anita enjoys her musical talent in many ways, much like her favorite gospel singer, Garth Brooks. She sings country, bluegrass and gospel music. She also does some great impersonatoins. Not only does she sing, but she sings and SINGS at the same time! She can be serious, funny, and even mischievous given the right time and audience. She was indeed a hit at the December 19, 2009 Christman show for the special needs individuals, with her B.C. Clark jewelry performance. She as also appeared as Minnie Pearl on the Annual CMSA Gong Show. Anita is a native of Oklahoma! She attended all of her school years at Crooked Oak School. In high school she won several talent contests and was voted "Sweetheart Queen" in her senior year. Anita worked for the FAA for many years and won several awards during her emplayment. She tetired formFAA in January of 2998. Anita and her husband Ben now travel wherever Anita happens to be performing. Anita has taken her love of music to new heights as a member of the United Gospel Music Association, committing to spreading the word of the Lord through music. She has become a regular on the Heartland Opry Gospel Praise Night shows, as well as the country shows. She coordinates her own Gospel Show once a month at the Riverlife Church in Moore, OK using many of the entertainers she knows from the CMSA. The gospel show draws between 70 and 90 people every show. Anita is also a regular at the Cowboy Church and the Laymen's Radio Recording. She has performed in various churches from Mustang, Woodward, Okmulgee, Johnson, Lawton,Medicine Park, Snyder, Oklahoma City, Del City, Midwest City, Guthrie, Yukon, Padan, Purcell, El Reno and Lindsay. She has also appeared in Dallas on Access34TV. She is scheduled to sing in Banson, MO on the 29th and 30th of January 2010. Anita formed a women's worship group that meets at the Casino Domino Restaurant (59th and Western Avenue) once a month. It is a non-denominational group that has about 4 singers each meeting, along with a sermon and many testimonies. Anita was connected to the CMSA while atending an open mic on Tuesday night in Del City. Charles Stowe asked Anita to sing at his "Mideastern Connection Show". That was the first step. Somewhere between the Tuesday open mic and the Saturday Mideastern Connectoin show, she was invited to the CMSA Open Mic, which at the time was being held at the Furr's Cafeteria (which has since closed). It was a great event and led to Anita and Ben joining the CMSA. They now feel like it's all family! Anita has 3 CD's for sale, and is working on recording a 4th. She has also written a few songs. Anita competed in the local and state competition of the CMSA this year, and placed in traditional gospel. If you get a chance, come out and listen to Anita. Her singing personifies her love of the Lord. Anita has taken an active role in the CMSA. She's a real performer, appearing in countless shows. I truly believe that we have not yet witnessed all this lady is capable of doing. Anita loves to sign as she sings, so if you know someone who would like to see her, be sure to bring'em to a show! Anita, You have added some cultural needs to the CMSA, and a lot of talent! Thank You for being who you are and for being a part of our "family"! |
